New Praslin Restaurant ‘sets Good Example’
The Pirogue Restaurant's Official OpeningMonday, 21 June 2010
A new restaurant - the Pirogue - was officially opened on the popular beachfront of Cote D'Or Praslin, in a ceremony last Saturday. Rock Bedier and his wife, Josette, are the owners of this new 62-cover restaurant. Mr and Mrs Bedier have been in the tourism and hospitality industry for many years, having worked at the Coco de Mer hotel for 17 years. The new restaurant was opened in the presence of the Member of the National Assembly for Baie Ste Anne Praslin, Mitcy Larue, and a representative of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Peter Moncherry, who is responsible for tourism development.
“The decision to build this restaurant was a risky one, taken two years ago at a time when the country was facing the economic crunch,” he said.
“It has been with great determination that, today, we have been able to accomplish this endeavour.” Also speaking at the ceremony, Mr Moncherry said it is heartening to see devoted Seychellois like Mr and Mrs Bedier running their own restaurant.
“This is an example to all Seychellois working, or wishing to work, in the industry of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication,” he said. Mr Moncherry added a note of encouragement for more Seychellois to dedicate themselves to the tourism industry, so they can successfully run their own establishments and do themselves and their country proud.
